Joy has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado since 2006, specializing early in her career in Marriage and Family Counseling. She has greater than 10 years of advanced experience in counseling Military Service Members and their dependents, as well as civilians, as the Lead Counselor at Fort Carson Army Post. There she oversaw 17 counselors and maintained good working relationships with command. She commonly provided therapy for issues such as PTSD, trauma, chronic pain, stress, anxiety, and depression.
Joy graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, with magna cum laude honors. She graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Master’s Degree in Education/Counseling Psychology with honors.
Joy especially enjoys helping patients gain control over chronic pain and other challenges by teaching empowering skills through biofeedback, Heart Math, Yoga, relaxation, visualization, art therapy, and bodywork. Her therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Training, Systems (including family systems) Theory, Client-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) techniques which are matched to the individual needs and desires of each patient. Joy is proud to be a supportive guide to her patients in the direction of health and wellness, and simply loves what she does!
Joy is the mother of an amazing elementary school girl who makes her a better person every day. She loves to cook, paint, travel, and spend time with her wonderful family and friends.
